Although the market got off to a rather slow start after the Christmas break, activity levels are now near normal for this time of year despite the pessimistic forecasts in the media. We have been swamped with requests for valuations although it is interesting to note that many prospective purchasers seem reluctant to put their homes on the market until they have found somewhere to buy.

We see absolutely no evidence of a fall in property prices locally although any increase in property values in 2003 is likely to be much lower than those which we have seen in the last few years. There is a shortage of instructions generally, but especially at the ‘first time buyer’ end of the market.
