What
are they?
An intranet
is a password-protected site designed to help business efficiency
- often these are systems which allow far-flung parts of an organisation
to share information, organise their billing and manage their contacts.
By their nature,
they are private and therefore we can't give you access to the work
we have done, but here is a general example:
Example:
A 'staff outsourcing' business
Intranets can
be a very poweful tool for an organisation that hires people out
to other businesses - for example a demonstrator agency. The business'
intranet can be used by its self-employed staff to report back on
the day's activities: where they have been, what they did and what
the end-client needs to know about the work done. This appears as
a summary report at head office, which is then authorised by the
Contractor Manager. Authorisation automatically triggers an invoice
to the client and payment to the demonstrator, saving on admin staff
and resulting in quicker payment of money due.
